Meet Evangelist Rayon Wallace

Rayon Adrina Wallace was born in Browns Hall, St. Catherine, Jamaica, the second of three children. She trained as a dressmaker but found her true calling in faith, becoming deeply involved in the church as a choir member, organist, and Sunday school teacher.

In 1961, she moved to the UK and became an Evangelist at the Triumphant Church of God before joining COGIC, where she served as Assistant Leader of the Newtown Assembly. She was a passionate preacher, choir director, and mentor, dedicated to spreading the gospel and uplifting those around her.

Rayon was known for her deep compassion and concern for the well-being of others. Whenever she heard of someone in distress, her first words would often be: "Lard mi belly weak, ah caan tek it!", a reflection of her empathetic nature.

Though ill health forced her to step back, her love for the church never wavered. She remained a guiding presence, supporting and witnessing its continued growth. Rayon Wallace’s legacy of faith, service, and kindness lives on, inspiring future generations.

May her memory be a blessing and May her soul rest in eternal peace.

Meet The Team

Gloria Bennett – Volunteer Lead at Rayon Wallace Helping Hand CIC

Gloria Bennett, affectionately known as Missionary Bennett, Mish, Sister Bennett, or Sister Missionary, was born in St. Thomas, Jamaica. She moved to England at the age of 20 and has been deeply rooted in her faith, worshipping at the Church of God in Christ in Aston, Birmingham.

Gloria serves as the Volunteer Lead at Rayon Wallace Helping Hand CIC, overseeing the food department. She leads a dedicated team that runs a weekly food bank, distributing essential groceries—generously donated by local supermarkets—to those in need.

In addition to the food bank, which operates on Wednesdays and Saturdays, Gloria also heads the cooking team, preparing nutritious Caribbean-style meals for the less fortunate. Each session provides 100 meals, ensuring that individuals not only receive a hot meal but also have food to take away for the following days.

Gloria’s unwavering dedication and compassion continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of many.

Mission statement:

Our mission is to make sure that those who are homeless have access to basic necessities and feel

supported. We strive to make sure their basic needs are met and they have access to resources that can help them get back on their feet.

We’re here to help.

We rely on donations from generous individuals like you.

Your donations will go directly to purchasing meals, warm clothing, bedding and toiletries for the homeless in Birmingham.

Every little bit helps!

What we do

At Rayon Wallace Helping Hand CIC, we are committed to supporting the less fortunate in our community. Every week, we provide over 100 hot meals, ensuring that those in need receive nourishment and care. While we have traditionally gone into Birmingham City Centre to serve meals and offer support, many individuals now visit our warm and welcoming space—a place they truly appreciate. Caring for the vulnerable is at the heart of what we do.

Each year at Christmas, we host a lively and heart warming celebration at our church building, creating a memorable evening filled with joy, laughter, and a sense of belonging. Many return year after year to be part of this special occasion.

In addition to our meal services, we operate a weekly food bank, open twice a week for those in need to collect essential supplies. For individuals unable to visit us—whether due to illness, old age, or being a single parent without transport—we personally deliver their food to ensure no one goes without.

Rayon Wallace Helping Hand CIC relies on the generosity of our church community and the support of local businesses. Every donation directly helps sustain our food banks and meal services, making a real difference in the lives of those facing hardship.

Together, we can continue to provide hope, warmth, and essential support to those who need it most.

We believe it is vital to reach out and support others. We are constantly looking for ways to enhance and develop this.
